How to use the QR Code Generator
- 1
Choose what to share: a link, text, Wi-Fi, contact card, WhatsApp, email, SMS, phone or location, and fill in the details.
- 2
Customise the design: upload or paste a logo, choose brand colours or a gradient, pick dot and eye shapes, and add a frame.
- 3
Download a PNG or SVG, then scan it with a couple of phones before printing.
What happens to your data
Codes are drawn in your browser. The content you encode and any logo you add stay on your device and are never uploaded or stored. "Use my location" asks for your permission, and the position is only written into the code.
Frequently asked questions
Is this QR code generator really free?
Yes. It is completely free with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many codes you create or download.
Do the QR codes expire?
No. These are static QR codes: your link or text is encoded directly in the pattern, so the code works for as long as the destination exists.
Can I put my logo in the middle of a QR code?
Yes. Upload your logo in the Logo tab. Error correction switches to High (about 30% recovery) and the logo size is limited so the code stays scannable.
What kinds of QR codes can I make?
Website links, plain text, Wi-Fi network logins, vCard contact cards, WhatsApp chats, email drafts, SMS messages, phone calls and map locations. All of them can have a logo, colours and a frame.
Can I make a QR code with a transparent background?
Yes. Turn on Transparent background in the Colours tab. PNG and SVG downloads keep the transparency. Place the code on a plain, light surface so it still scans.
Which format should I download, PNG or SVG?
Use PNG for websites, slides and social posts. Use the high-resolution PNG or the SVG for print, because SVG is a vector file that stays sharp at any size.
What size should a printed QR code be?
Keep it at least 2 × 2 cm (about 0.8 inches) for close scanning, and larger for posters viewed from a distance. Always leave the quiet zone (white border) around the code.
Why won't my QR code scan?
The most common causes are low contrast between the colours, a light foreground on a dark background, a logo that is too large, or a missing quiet zone. The generator warns you about each of these before you download.
What is QR code error correction?
Error correction stores extra data inside the code so it can still be read when part of it is dirty, damaged or covered. There are four levels: Low (about 7%), Medium (15%), Quartile (25%) and High (30%). Higher levels make the pattern denser. When you add a logo, error correction is set to High.
Can I change the link after printing?
Not with a static code, because the link is part of the pattern itself. If you expect the destination to change, point the code at a page you control and update that page instead.
Do the QR codes work on all phones?
Yes. The codes follow the standard QR format, so they work with the built-in camera app on iPhone and Android and with any QR scanner app.
